Cozy home for a family of three people
The architects YH2 altered forest barn near Quebec city in a comfortable home for a family of three people. The first owner of this house was a woodcutter who built for himself a one-storey shed in the woods.
Following the owners with the canadian architects from the Bureau of YH2 increased living space and built on two more floors. In order to leave intact the surrounding forest, the architects decided to extend the house up. Its structure resembles a tree, as the top volume takes the form of a crown.
Finishing material the same as the shape helps the house harmoniously merge with nature: the outside the architects used a dark cedar wood. The interior contrasts with the exterior of the house: it is fully painted white and the layout of the space intact.
On the lower level of the window from floor to ceiling overlooking the woods. A double-height space of the house United by a geometrical staircase leading to the second floor.
The most interesting place in the forest dwelling of a terrace on the third floor. Due to the expansion of the facade, the architects created a space that provides an excellent viewing platform and a place where through the huge pentagonal window you can admire the view of the forest.
